Course Description

This program invites students to explore the practices of Christian life and witness at the intersection of place and migration, through the prism of food. In our program at Castello Sonnino and in the cities of Florence, Siena, and Rome, we shall learn about the production of food locally, prepare and share meals, engage in conversation with Christian communities and those of other faiths, and immerse ourselves in the historic yet changing local culture.

We will listen to, learn from and dialogue with local Italians who have been in place for generations, and with migrants who are first and second generation newcomers. Through these many experiences and encounters we will explore the question: How are Christians from a variety of backgrounds living out and expressing the gospel in the Italian context?
