Familiarization trip for faculty
This immersive program is designed for faculty interested in developing future courses and study abroad experiences at Castello Sonnino International Education Center in Tuscany. Through a curated itinerary, participants experience the Center’s approach to place-based, interdisciplinary learning rooted in the cultural and historical landscape of the region.
Faculty will explore the heritage of Castello Sonnino and Montespertoli through estate tours, lectures, and hands-on activities such as pasta making, local food exploration, and wine production. Meetings with local experts and artisans offer insight into sustainable agriculture, food systems, and regional traditions.
Excursions to Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano introduce broader themes such as interfaith dialogue and migration, providing inspiration for academic programming. Combining experiential learning with reflection, the program equips participants to design meaningful, engaging courses that connect students with Italian culture and contemporary global issues.
